I wish I had been a fan of the Colossus series

Definitely 10/10. Fantastic game. Controls obviously not overcomplicated. Graphics could use work (especially the vines), but it's not a big deal, as the levels are enormous in the first place.

May I ask, how did you put together such large levels? When I work with levels that huge, Flash crashes. It's not my computer. :(

Anyway, extremely entertaining game to play. There was no clear cut goal, but like console games back in the day, the intention is simply to win - not to unlock achievements, etc.

Music was perfect. Falling down in chapter 3 was awesome. Fun to see the monster as the camera pans out at the end. Like connecting the dots, but with more awesome. :D

This is a very simple engine, and you've done a great job of making it fun to play with.

But, hm, are the scores messed up? I didn't submit one, but it seemed as if the longest run throughs were at the top..

The-EXP responds:

Since I setup the scores to be highest at the top, lower times are converted into higher scores, so that the fastest players get the most points. Thanks for the review, it took ages to get that music timed right in Chap 3 :)

Gameplay works, but could use more.

I think you have an interesting concept as far as the gameplay goes. The game takes simple avoiding a tiny bit further by adding slightly unique features.

That said, the game could use a lot on the graphics side. The graphics aren't poor of course, but they could be made in a particular way that conveys a theme, etc. Like, instead of having a simple rectangle for Rush or Sneak, it could be a more detailed power meter, etc.

I like the way that the balls spawn (the flashing) - it's better than just popping up.

All in all, the game is good, but could really use more dynamic and interesting graphics to make it better. More features, like power ups couldn't hurt. It might be a good idea to make Rush and Sneak Modes forced powerups that one accidentally runs into, rather than timed events.

Yes, the gfx section isn't exactly where this game shines on. :D I'm actually just looking for a graphic artist.

Thanks for the feedback.

Entertaining

The graphics may have been lacking, but I found myself surprised at how much I was enjoying this game. I think you perfectly executed the death sequence, as in, there was no death sequence. It was nice just to spawn right when you died. I say you make a sequel, but put a TON (a TON) of effort into making your graphics look awesome. Throw in some other things too, like achievements.

Nice work!

Joshsouza responds:

i will think about that

I'd like to see this in a game

There is most certainly a high demand for games like this... so it would be a great idea for you to make this into a full feature game. As for this experiment, I feel that it can oftentimes be difficult for the user to get the perfect mark. Perhaps widening the target area will do the trick? Overall great beta.

Thankss

Welcome to my Newgrounds page! Isn't it quaint? I can't fit my life story here, but if you want to know it, then send me a message! :D This is the OFFICIAL Lawlolawl on Newgrounds page (I've had problems with people stealing my work).
